ENVIRONMENTALIST’S
MESSAGE
Welcome to the Bunker
Hill Environmental Education
Center, nestled on 95.63 acres
located in the historic town of Griggstown,
Franklin Township,
New Jersey. The site consists of
a deciduous forest, known as Graeber Woods – a
meadow, marsh area and the Simonson Brook. There is a one-mile self-guided
nature trail, which winds through these various areas. Also located on our site
is the “Glass House” which is used as a classroom and conference center.
The programs at the Center are designed as an integral part
of the Franklin Township
Public School curriculum. They
incorporate each of the magnet themes as they provide hands-on lessons in
“nature’s classroom” – the field, forest, stream and marsh on the Center’s
property. Students in Franklin Township,
grades one through seven participate in an environmental lesson once a year.
Please browse through our link on Nature Programs to get an idea of the types
of lessons we teach. Special programs are available to all teachers in the
district by request. We also provide nature and adventure programs for
community groups upon request.
The property is open to the public daily from 8:00am to sunset. We hope that you might take
the opportunity to visit our special site and enjoy a quiet stroll on our nature
trail. Parking is available at the 287 Bunker Hill
Road entrance. Please feel free to call us if you
have questions about the center or our programs.
