"Peacemakers"
from Conerly Road School
During the week of May
1st, third and fourth grade "Peacemakers" from Conerly Road School in Franklin Township will be reading to the lower grades (Pre-K to 2nd) from books that have
a consistent theme of keeping the Peace. The books will focus on topics
like lying, bullying and stealing, and the 3rd and 4th grade peacemakers will
hold discussions after the readings to help the younger students identify these
negative traits and focus on positive character traits like trustworthiness,
citizenship, honesty and caring. Mrs. Virginia Abu-Bakr,
School Guidance Counselor at Conerly Road School, has trained students in the 3rd and 4th grades to
be Peacemakers throughout the school and in their own homes. The students
take weekly classes to learn about mediating arguments within the school day.
