Peacemakers from Franklin Township Public Schools
Present Farewell Banner to Mrs. Kofi
Anan
On September 21, 2006, the United Nations will be hosting the
International Day of Peace for youth from around the world. The United
Nations General Assembly has designated this day to honor the things young
people are doing to bring peace into their lives.
Students from Conerly Road School, Sampson G. Smith Intermediate School and Franklin Middle School have been asked to personally present a farewell banner to the wife of the outgoing President of the
United Nations, Mrs. Kofi Anan, on that day.
The ceremony will be held at the United
Nations Building in New
York City on Thursday, September
21, 2006 from 10am to 12:15pm.
This is an amazing honor for students in Franklin Township. The presentation to Mrs. Anan will be made exclusively by
students from Franklin Township; no other school children will be involved in this ceremony. Franklin Township’s Conerly Road School peacemakers will be the youngest participants
involved in the International Day for Peace.
