A Message from the Principal

Hillcrest School provides a challenging educational environment for over 450 students in Pre-K through fourth grade. At Hillcrest we offer a comprehensive instructional delivery system to meet our children's educational needs.

Hillcrest students receive instruction in a full range

of academic subjects, the arts and developmental activities.

Offerings include integrated language arts/reading, mathematics, science, social studies, physical education, foreign language/culture, health, music, art and computers.  We offer a variety of programs and services to complement our academic curriculum, which is closely aligned with the New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards. These programs, which enhance the educational experiences of our students, include, but are not limited to, the following:

v     Text Box: Learners Today,
Leaders Tomorrow
Full-day Kindergarten based upon developmental principles of study childhood.

v     Exposure to Spanish culture and instruction in Spanish language for students grades 1-4.

v     An arts program that is integrated into the regular curricular areas.

v     A Gifted-and-Talented enrichment program, which offers opportunities for identified students to develop their skills and talents.

v     A fully-equipped computer lab and wireless laptop cart to enhance the regular curriculum.

v     A character-developing program that fosters respect and anti-bullying theme.

v     A school counselor to help meet the immediate social and developmental needs of our students.

v     Special education programs and services promoting, when appropriate, the inclusion of special needs students within the regular program of instruction.

v     A fully-equipped library/media center for borrowing books and a computer center to develop research skills and the use of the internet.

Central to the success of our school is the active involvement of the many volunteers who contribute their services to Hillcrest School. Through organizations such as the P.T.O., our students receive a wide variety of special programs, projects, trips, and activities, including valuable cultural arts experiences. The cooperation and support of our parents is a powerful motivation for success at Hillcrest School. We are very proud of our school/parent/community relationship and the success we have had in promoting lifelong learning.
