Updated Information: Water Testing in Franklin Township Public Schools

UPDATED INFORMATION REGARDING HILLCREST SCHOOL SEPTEMBER 8, 2016

In the Spring of 2016, Franklin Township Public School conducted water testing in all of our schools.

All of the samples taken were “normal” meaning they were below the maximum contaminant level, except for the drinking fountains in the hallways of Hillcrest School.  While the water sample from the kitchen of Hillcrest School was below the maximum threshold, the samples from the three fountains were reported as .024 (where the maximum level is .015). Those fountains were turned off and bottled water was supplied to students during the end of the 2015-2016 school year as well as the beginning of the 2016-2017 school year.

During the summer a new water cooler was installed with a filtering system.  Before placed in operation, a test was conducted to determine if the water was lead free.  The tests proved that the water was lead free and now the district is in the process of installing additional coolers and filters.  Until they are all installed bottled water will remain available.
