    Congratulations to Jeff Linn, ESL teacher at Hillcrest Elementary School, on his presentation at the Rutgers Urban Teaching Matters/Teaching the World Forum Conference on Saturday, April 21, 2018.  His presentation was titled "Handing Them the Tools of Thought" and was focused on his  The Academic Hand Sign approach: a multi sensory monosemic vocabulary teaching strategy.  You can catch his presentation at NJTESOL-NJBE if you missed it at Rutgers.

    Anel Suriel, Bilingual Teacher - PGM
     

    Anel Suriel is an Adjunct Instructor at Hunter College School of Education, a senior college of the City University of New York (CUNY) system.  She teaches the Language Assessment for English Language Learners course for the Bilingual Education division of the Department of Curriculum and Instruction.  Her students consist of teacher candidates in both traditional and alternate route certification programs and other school professionals.  In this course, students are introduced to relevant theory, critical issues, and current practice in the area of language assessment in the elementary and middle school classrooms in order to provide students with both conceptual understanding and practical experience with particular focus on Emergent Bilingual students.

    Jack is the Bilingual Elementary SIG (Special Interest Group) Representative for NJTESOL/NJBE. He takes part in discussions for and with bilingual educators about the issues they face and helps them find solutions. He conduct research to answer educators’ questions and publishes a monthly article in NJTESOL/NJBE’s “Voices” about hot topics in bilingual education.  For his latest publication click here:

    Adult ESL Class
     
    Adult ESL Classes at Pine Grove
     
    Parents who are interested in learning English attend evening ESL classes taught by Franklin's ESL and Bilingual Teachers.  Classes are offered on Thursday nights from 6:00 - 7:30 at Pine Grove Manor Elementary School.  For registration information, please contact Angela Pape or Jeizza Andrade at Pine Grove Manor.
