• Franklin High School Hosts Ribbon Cutting for First Phase of Athletic Complex

The September 23rd ribbon cutting for the first phase of the Franklin High School Athletic Complex was a community event.  Attendees included all members of the Franklin Township Board of Education members, representatives from Franklin Township Council, former Franklin Township Board of Education members and administrators, student captains of several Franklin High School athletic teams and cheerleaders and members of the Ad Hoc Athletic Task Force.

The roster of speakers featured: Board President, Mrs. Eva M. Nagy; Superintendent of Schools, Mr. Edward Q. Seto; Franklin Township, Mayor Brian Levine; and Franklin High School Principal, Dr. Neely Hackett. Music was provided by the Franklin High School Marching Band and with Franklin High School's Junior ROTC posting the colors. Samantha Romine, First Vice-President, FHS Student Council led the Pledge of Allegiance.  Representatives from the Elizabeth Avenue Fire Company added to the festivities by taking photos from high above the crowd, sounding the sirens and beeping the horns of their fire trucks.  Kerry Davis (FHS retired Coach/Teacher) Athletic Hall of Fame member and several senior citizens from our community were in the audience.

As mentioned above, this celebration was held to mark the completion of the first phase of the FHS athletic complex.  As a district, this is a very big accomplishment that will benefit students in many ways as athletic teams, physical education classes and the marching Band put the field to good use.  This could never have been accomplished without the support of the Franklin Township Board of Education and our entire community.

The District will be working on a comprehensive fundraising campaign to raise the money needed to complete this project.
