Why Growth Mindset?
Teachers in our district can often be heard using the term "growth mindset" for good reason: it works. Students who embrace the idea that some of the best learning occurs as a result of a failed attempt or an effort that did not quite produce the desired result are those who hold a successful future in their hands.
Teachers who show students how to see setbacks as components of success are helping them become lifelong, resilient learners. I'm glad that we actively promote growth mindset in our schools -- its positive effects are seen everyday when I see our students engaged in productive struggle that teaches them to persist, persevere, and -- eventually -- succeed.
