An Updated letter from Superintendent Seto regarding the school board election and budget vote of April 27, 2011.
May 4, 2011Dear Franklin Township Community:Thank you for your support of the 2011-2012 school budget and for approving the second question on yesterday’s ballot. While I realize that the budget process has not been easy these past few years, I am so very proud of the way that our Board of Education, administration, collective bargaining units, parent support groups, local elected officials and the community at large came together to not only create and pass a budget that protects instruction and learning, but also brought back some sorely missed extra-curricular activities. The final election numbers show that the 2011-2012 school budget was approved by 798 votes and the second question by 323. This show of support for our budget permits us to continue to focus on our improvement of student achievement. While I recognize that there is much more that needs to be done, we should be heartened by the progress that we have made thus far. Congratulations to our newly elected Board of Education members, Mr. Delvin Burton and Ms. Keisha Smith-Carrington and to Mrs. Eva Nagy on her re-election. Thank you to the other candidates who gave of their time to run for the Board of Education this year as well. I look forward to working with our entire community as we continue our work to improve the quality of education and services provided to the students of Franklin Township Public Schools.Regards,Edward Q.
