Welcome to second grade and the 2018-2019 school year! We are going to accomplish so much this year in reading, writing and math workshops, as well as science and social studies.
The Monthly Newsletter will be sent home in your child's folder each month. It will list our monthly skills, important dates, notes/reminders for parents, and several other sections that are important for parents to note. It will even include a section written by the students in our class!
*Parents and guardians, THANK YOU in advance for sending in boxes of tissues throughout the school year. We go through these rather quickly and classrooms are not supplied with these. The students also go through hand wipes and band-aids rather quickly. Thank you for sending in these supplies, as well as any others! It's never been easier to discover the best books for your child. Shop the flyer and the extended online selection together to find the best choices for your child's interests and reading level. Plus every time you place an order online you earn rewards for our classroom! Here is the link to order Scholastic books:*(Scholastic flyers are sent home in your child's folder each month, but feel free to go online and browse any time! You can place an order online at any time, or you can feel free to wait until monthly flyers go home in your child's folder.)
The following is the list of district-approved foods that can be sent into classrooms. Please refer to the list when sending in birthday snacks, holiday party snacks, end-of-year snacks or breakfast foods for your child. This is the same list that will be sent home with your child at the beginning of the school year.
- baked chips
- Chex Mix
- Rice Krispy treats
- Jell-O or pudding
- NO foods containing any nuts should be sent into the classroom at any time. Thank you!!
All snacks that are sent to school for classroom celebrations should be individually wrapped or packaged, if possible. Please make sure that sugar is not the first ingredient in any snacks that you send into the classroom. This includes candy, cookies, donuts, and cupcakes with icing. Thank you for your support in making our school a better and healthier place to learn!
I'm looking forward to a wonderful school year!Sincerely,Mrs. Jessup
