Dear Pine Grove Manor School Community,

My name is Genesi Miles and I would like to formally introduce myself as your new Principal at Pine Grove Manor Elementary School.

I am elated to join the PGM team and to work with a dynamic group of caring adults. I am very much familiar with elementary education and know that with our shared strengths, we will be able to support our students in a meaningful and effective way.

I cannot wait to get to know each of you and our wonderful students at PGM. In the meantime, here is some background information on me: I am a first generation college student, born and raised in Jersey City. I proudly earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology at Rutgers University, and subsequently my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education at the Graduate School of Education at Rutgers.

Soon thereafter, I began my work in education as a literacy Interventionist in New Brunswick Public Schools for 2 years. My love for reading and teaching literacy foundational skills translated into a role as a first grade teacher for over five years in a community that has similarities to Franklin. During my tenure in New Brunswick, I had opportunities to re-write Social Studies curriculum, create a Balanced Literacy Protocol, and leverage community partnerships to organize and supervise an afterschool program in conjunction with Rutgers University. While teaching (and juggling 3 children!) I went back to school to earn my Supervisor and Principal Certificate through the NJEXCEL Program. My internships provided me with the opportunity to connect with the larger community and organize building-wide events on a regular basis. This directly influenced my pursuit of administration as I saw how my voice, tenacity, and relatability created impact on the needs of the general student body.

I have proudly had the opportunity to serve as the Vice Principal at Hillcrest Elementary School and the Road to Success Alternative Program from January 2020-July 2021. Leading in this capacity has developed my program building skills which has afforded my students opportunities to deepen and vary their academic, social, and emotional aptitude. I currently serve as the Class of 2025 Vice Principal at Franklin High School since August 2021. This has been a very versatile experience that has helped me develop further as a building leader by working with dedicated professionals that put students first.

Mi nombre es Genesi Miles y me gustaría presentarme formalmente como la nueva directora en Pine Grove Manor.

Estoy encantada de unirme al equipo de PGM y trabajar con un grupo dinámico de adultos. Estoy muy familiarizada con la educación primaria y sé que con nuestras fortalezas compartidas, podremos apoyar a nuestros estudiantes de una manera significativa y efectiva.

Espero conocer a cada uno de ustedes y a nuestros maravillosos estudiantes en PGM. Mientras tanto, aquí hay un poco de información sobre mí: fui una estudiante universitaria de primera generación, nacida y criada en Jersey City. Con orgullo, obtuve mi Licenciatura en Psicología en la Universidad de Rutgers y, después, mi Maestría en Educación Primaria en la Graduate School of Education at Rutgers.

Poco después, comencé mi trabajo en educación como intervencionista de lectura en las escuelas públicas de New Brunswick por 2 años. Mi amor por la lectura y la enseñanza de habilidades fundamentales de alfabetización me dirigió a ser maestra de primer grado por más de cinco años en una comunidad que tiene similitudes con Franklin. Durante mi tiempo en New Brunswick, tuve la oportunidad de reescribir el plan de estudios de estudios sociales, crear un protocolo de alfabetización equilibrado y aprovechar las asociaciones comunitarias para organizar y supervisar un programa extracurricular junto con la Universidad de Rutgers. Mientras enseñaba (¡con 3 niños en casa!), volví a la escuela para obtener mi certificado de supervisora y directora a través del programa NJEXCEL. Mis internships me brindaron la oportunidad de conectarme con la comunidad y organizar eventos en todo el edificio regularmente. Esto influyó mi búsqueda de una posición en administración, ya que vi cómo mi voz, tenacidad y relacionabilidad crearon un impacto en las necesidades de estudiantes.

Orgullosamente tuve la oportunidad de servir como subdirectora en Hillcrest Elementary School y el Programa Alternativo RTS de enero de 2020 a julio de 2021. Liderar en esta capacidad ha desarrollado mis habilidades de creación de programas que les ha brindado a mis estudiantes oportunidades para profundizar y variar su aptitud académica, social y emocional. Actualmente soy la subdirectora de la Clase de 2025 en Franklin High School desde agosto de 2021. Esta ha sido una experiencia muy versátil que me ha ayudado a desarrollarme aún más como líder y a trabajar con profesionales dedicados que ponen a los estudiantes en primer lugar.
