Based Upon Your Input Phase V Assignments Will Continue with Additional Experiences and Opportunities

Day 1 of Phase V will feature learning opportunities that emphasize reflection and give our students the opportunity to be "A Voice for Change".  These suggested activities are for students of all ages.

Phase V will continue with lessons for all grade levels which can be found in our learning modules.  Toward the end of the Phase V, students will begin to take end-of-year assessments.  These assessments will not factor into student grades for this year.  Instead, our principals and supervisors will analyze the data over the summer so they can evaluate student progress and better prepare our teachers for our return in September.

If a student does not have lessons or an assessment scheduled for a particular day, he or she may enjoy a virtual field trip or work with his or her teacher to complete and submit make up work

Another suggestion from our feedback surveys will be realized in our Virtual Field Day for students in Grades K-5 and Wellness Day for our older students in Grades 6-12.  These events will take place on June 22, 2020.  They will give our students the opportunity to experience, in a remote learing way, the type of activities that typically occur toward the end of the school year.  On our final day of the 19-20 school year June 23, 2020, students will have an additional opportunity to experience a virtual field trip.

Final Progress Reports for our elementary students and final Report Cards for our students in Grades 6-12 will be available on Friday, June 19, 2020.  The final two days of the 19-20 school year, June 22 and 23, can also be used for home/school communications with teachers about student progress and grades.

The schedule for Phase V indicates which of the remaining days of the school year will be used for lessons, end of year assessments, field trips, make up work and home school communication.

Student Accountability Assessment and Final Grades

Student accountabilty in Phase V will continue as it has in Phase III and IV.  Teachers at the secondary level will be submitting grades (√-; √; √+) as introduced in our presentation on April 20, 2020.  Elementary grade level teachers will be following a rubric, also found in the presentation, and providing feedback to families. If you have any questions about your individual child's progress during this Phase, please reach out to his/her teacher or your child's Principal.

     Social Emotional Support

Restrictions on leaving your home and maintaining social distancing, as well as concerns about Covid-19, can cause feelings of islolation and sadness in our students.  We are looking to provide further social/emotional support for our families through a partnership with Rutgers Behavioral Health.  More information on this organization and the resources that they can provide will be posted on our website on June 15, 2020.

Look Ahead - Considerations for Next School Year - Getting Your Input

Obtaining feedback from our staff and student families, and using that feedback to shape Remote Learning Phases as we progressed through this school year, has proven to be invaluable.  To that end, we will be sending a new survey out in mid-June to gauge the opinions of our families on several topics concerning next school year. The responses to these questions will help shape the re-entry plan we will create over the summer months.
