     National Junior Honor Society Eligibility

To be eligible for membership consideration in the National Junior Honor Society a student must have been on the High Honor Roll at Franklin Middle School for the first three marking periods of the school year.  (Honor classes may classify with an 86 or better but in all other courses a student must have a 90 or better.)  Once these academic requirements are met a student will be invited to apply.  Additionally, potential members must meet high standards of leadership, service, citizenship, and character.

Ø     Leadership: based on the students participation in two or more community or school activities.

Ø     Service: to meet the service requirement the student must have been active in three or more service projects in school or the community.

Ø     Citizenship: measured by the student participation in civic-related organizations and/or activities.

Ø     Character: measured in terms of integrity, behavior, ethics and cooperation with both students and faculty.

Student Activity Information forms are sent to qualifying students after the first three marking periods.  A panel of teachers evaluates the information forms.  An Induction Ceremony for the students who meet all the requirements is held in the spring.

The club activities include service projects for the school, the local community, the nation and, at times the world.  Club members are eighth graders. Our local chapter is affiliated with the National Organization and adheres to the guidelines set by this organization.
