Welcome to the 7th Grade Social Studies course – World History. This year, we will be exploring World History from the Beginning of Time through the Middle Ages. As we analyze World History, there will be a particular focus on how the concepts of empire, race, class, and gender have shaped human life throughout history.
Beyond understanding facts and concepts, we will also be sharpening critical thinking, reading, and writing skills by participating in the historical process. You will be expected to analyze texts, writing thoughtfully, and creatively design multimedia projects. To complete these tasks, we will be using various types of sources to recreate the past. These sources will include maps, letters, speeches, histories, artwork, tools, documentaries, charts, & graphs.
Since this course will be centered on producing historical works, it will be both reading and writing intensive. Please plan accordingly to adequately prepare for class sessions.
