As we approach the middle of summer break, we want to ensure that our students continue to grow as readers. Research consistently shows that children who read regularly during the summer maintain and even improve their reading skills, while those who don’t often experience a decline. Reading builds vocabulary, fosters empathy, improves writing, and helps students stay sharp and ready for success in the fall. To support this, your child will be able to pick up a book at HSC - a gift from our school to encourage summer reading. While students are not required to read this particular book, they are expected to read something over the summer.
Incoming 6th-grade students can pick up their books from the HSC Main Office between 8:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on July 29-31 & August 4-7. They will also be available on August 27th during our 6th-grade orientation.
