Summer Reading 2026 Grades 6 - 8

It is critically important that students read over the summer, and the more they read, the

better! A recent study found that students in grades 1 through 8 could lose 17% to 34% of the

prior year’s learning over summer break. Reading as few as 4 books keeps kids at their current

reading levels. Summer Reading is REQUIRED for all students.

✔️What You Need to Do:

● Read 1 book of your choice

● Read 1 assigned short story

● Complete your book responses and short story annotations

● Bring your completed work on the first day of school
