Dear Families,
As we are quickly approaching the end of the school year, I wanted to take this opportunity to update you on a new course offering at Franklin High School, the Combined Building Trades Elective, which will be an introduction to Vocational Opportunities in the Building Trades. Your student has been chosen to have the opportunity to participate in the program, and I wanted to share with you details on the course and the exciting opportunity that we have for our students.
Franklin Township Public Schools has partnered with the Brenshire Group, a local trade association group, who are currently providing a Vocational Career Sampling Program at FMS Hamilton. Brenshire Consultants will provide the Combined Building Trades curriculum and programming alongside a certificated teacher. Their instructors will provide OSHA safety training and hands-on programs that will culminate in a large scale building project and OSHA certification for each participant. Students enrolled in the program will have access to industry certified instruction in various areas of building and construction.
Students who participate for the semester will attend the program during the last two blocks at the end of each school day. FHS students will be transported to the program, which is housed in the vocational space at the Hamilton Street Campus. At the end of the school day, students will either be bussed home directly, or walk home if eligible.
Students will participate in the course every day, Monday through Friday, for the entire semester.
Thank you for your interest in this exciting opportunity for our students at Franklin High School as they prepare for Employment Opportunities in the future. The Combined Building Trades Brochure is attached, which shows some of the projects created by our Franklin students this year.
Sincerely,
Brenda Sofield
